We are so thrilled to have been selected for Think Local First‘s location for this quarter’s Cash Mob! Think Local First supports independent, locally owned and operated business in DC. These events put your dollars directly back into the community. We’ll be serving refreshments during the event, and we have LOTS of fun items at or under $20 such as our hand printed tees and ties, posters by Fire Studio, small art prints, poetry books by local authors, jewelry, housewares, and more!

Plains Workshop is an incubator space for 8 resident artists working in a variety of mediums. Through their connection to the workshop, they have access to the print studio and often incorporate printmaking in their works. See pieces from each artist, and explore the studio spaces and check out the new building expansion.

Featuring works by: Ken Ashton (Courtesy of Civilian Art Projects), Kristina Bilonick, Anthony Dihle, Bethany Hansen, Chris Haughery, Rujunko Pugh, Champneys Taylor, and Ann-Marie VanTassell.

Josh Dihle: Outside
March 23 – April 20, 2013
Opening Reception: March 23, 2013 6-9pm

‘Outside’, comprises a selection of paintings, drawings, – each a dense, modestly scaled depiction of plants and animals made through a variety of painterly approaches. The exhibition is accompanied by the release of a series of prints and drawings made in collaboration with Pleasant Plains Workshop Resident Artist (and brother) Anthony Dihle. An artist book by Josh Dihle will also be available at the exhibition. Together, the exhibition utilizes creatures and forms found in the outdoors to give voice to interior moods.

Refreshments will be served, and sneak a peek at the progress in our space next door!

Bring your fave beach towel to sit on while you and friends enjoy tacos from the make-your-own taco bar! We’ll be screening beach blanket bingo movies and also offering samples of a variety of beers from our new house beer sponsor, Grizzly Beer! (you must be 21+ to attend)

Other activities include a print your own taco print station featuring a design by PPW artist, Elizabeth Graeber. We’ll also have a suntan oil/self-tanner bar with a variety of products to get you out of your winter doldrums.

Please bring some additional snacks or beverages to add to the indoor picnic! and get ready for some fun on this upcoming three-day weekend!

Pleasant Plains Workshop is growing! In the coming months, we will be expanding into the building next door. We’re building a state-of-the-art screen printing studio and creating additional work spaces to grow our resident artist program. Stay tuned for more on how you can help PPW v.2.0 come to life!
