Join us starting at 3pm on Sunday the 1st and hear them read selections from their books. They’ll be signing copies and we’ll have refreshments on hand.. deets below!

Black Peppermint / Wounded City– An afternoon of poetry with Buck Downs & Jamal Hardy
- Buck Downs is an American poet, publisher, and editor. Born in James County, Mississippi, Downs later graduated from Louisiana State University with an MA, where he studied with Andrei Codrescu. He moved to Washington, D.C. in 1988. Literary journals that have featured Downs’ poetical writings include Puppyflowers, Brooklyn Rail, and Columbia Poetry Review. He is publisher of Buck Downs Books, an organizes a monthly poetry showcase at DC Arts Center, In Your Ear.
- Jamal Hardy is a DC born & bred poet, visual artist and musician. Since his teen years in the 90s, Hardy has navigated the changing landscape of the DC art, music and poetry scenes and has documented it with his essays, poems and drawings. His recent Publication ‘Wounded City’ is a compilation of works from 1998-today. Hardy also published a free zine, Subhuman that was distributed in local galleries and metro bus stops. Hardy was also a regular contributor to the arts magazine, Washington Review, in its heyday.
